Media Mastery:

Representing Yourself and Your Profession Through the Media

4:30 - 5:45 P.M.

Working with journalists is one of the easiest ways to increase your visibility and enhance your brand. With an ever-increasing news cycle and the onslaught of online news coverage, the time is right to learn what you can do to master working with the media to amplify your own exposure and the important role financial planners play.

Join the FPA of Metro New York for Media Mastery, a media training workshop for chapter members that will walk you through the necessary skills and tactics for working with the media, including:

·       How to best prepare for an interview to ensure it goes as smoothly as possible

·       How to master the skills needed to perform at a high level during an interview

·       How to display great poise when working with reporters

·       How to protect your reputation when working with reporters

This training will qualify CFP® professionals who are members of FPA who want to be part of FPA MediaSource – the automated media query platform that sends media requests right to your inbox! This revolutionary platform has enabled FPA members to take part in more than 3,100 national media opportunities over the past three years.

Learn what you can do to stand out in a crowded marketplace by working with the media.  Conducted by FPA Public Relations Director Ben Lewis.

An Evening with the Media:

An Interactive Panel Discussion on Working with Journalists

Join the FPA of Metro New York for an interactive panel discussion with nationally recognized journalists where you will have an opportunity to interview them! The panel will provide chapter members with a behind the scenes look at what journalists do, how the evolving media landscape is impacting their work, and how financial planners can be outstanding resources to the media.

Moderated by FPA Public Relations Director Ben Lewis, the panel will explore those issues, but also provide attendees an opportunity to ask the questions they have about working with journalists. The panel will include:

Jim Pavia – Money Editor at CNBC Digital

Caleb Silver – Editor-in-Chief at Investopedia
